Double-edged sword

Every time celebrating Independence Day, August 17, our eyes accustomed to looking Sang Saka Merah Putih flying majestically on top of the flagpole. This time, it's good he used to look at the situation of our beloved country.


It seems everywhere moral decline: a lie to discredit honesty, security suppress noise, crime replaces respect for law, order and chaos control. Here and there there was an increase of hypocrisy and pretense, an increase in the abuse of power, and in the use of power.


What is behind all individual and social anomalies of this? We would not realize that freedom is made possible by the national independence is a gift of a potentially dangerous; that he is a double edged sword, which can kill themselves if we do not ever want to learn how to use it wisely; that we are facing a challenge far more greater than had been resolved by the founding fathers of national independence. Previously, they had to struggle just to regain independence. As for now, we-we should be able to live with independence, with a variety of birth of freedom.


Are we not mistaken in interpreting the meaning of freedom? Does the freedom of choice that we get thanks to struggle past founding fathers, we instead choose the things wrong, not in place?


We are demanding more freedom in handling their own longer a moral issue. We forget that when the moral is made relative, each of the justification of morality becomes very difficult, if not impossible. We are demanding greater freedom in politics, but politics is great as long as he does not become a source of income. We demand berleluasa in forming a political party, but he does not change the man, just open unmasked. We demand complete freedom in a democracy, but the results are not people using the power, but the use kekuasaanlah people. We are demanding regional autonomy for broader distribution of development, but the appearance of new kings of flattened corrupt opportunities. We want to uphold the presidential system of government, but instead the power-driven parliamentary system.


For all that, we change the Constitution '45 casually many times. Negative impact of the implementation of all the demands and changes are considered "normal" as the phenomenon of "transition period" without mention of how long it lasted; without explaining the transition from what to what? And why, not just how to do it!
So, when Sang Saka Merah Putih commemorate the years of independence flying that the 64, let us think more can be caused chaos by freedom of the people who do not use it wisely rather than reflecting freedom from tyranny is championed by former revolutionary generation. Separatist turmoil

If the personal freedom to choose becomes our purpose well and our ideals as a nation, then the first option and the fundamentals of our self is the limit, not to abuse that freedom. If so, for every Indonesian citizen freedom means self-discipline. For those who intend to become "public figure" or "politicians", there diniscayakan additional meaning of "responsible freedom", the responsible freedom.
